Mickey Mouse Disney Carnival Party

Sometimes waiting patiently to reveal photos is the hardest part of being in the party business. (Can you tell patience might just not be my best quality?) After the party ran on the Hostess With the Mostess Blog a few days ago, I can now reveal these fabulous photos to my readers, too.

My oh so talented friend, Kate Petronis of And Everything Sweet, wanted to celebrate her daughter's birthday with all things Disney and came to me for a little printable help. As you can see from the photos below, Kate is such a whiz at parties, I'm not so sure she needs ANY help at all! This girl has more talent.... see that cake? A 7 TIER TOPSY TURVY CAKE representing each of her daughter's favorite Disney characters. And the cake is just the beginning... with this DISNEY PARTY CARNIVAL, Kate pulled out all the stops.... games, prizes, a princess and YES, even Mickey himself showed up to wish little Olivia a very happy birthday!

Kate tells us about the details:

I threw a Disney Carnival themed party for my precious little 3 year old baby girl. She loves all the Mickey and Friends characters and anything princess, so when it came to planning her party I knew just what the theme would be… Disney Carnival! Mickey Mouse (Played by my husband!) and Cinderella both came to entertain and wish Olivia a Happy Birthday. I set up carnival games for the kids to play and win prizes (that they could pick out from the prize table). When the princess came she sang, painted faces, made balloon animals and even did a magic show. It was amazing. The party was so colorful, non stop fun and amazing to watch all the children’s eyes fill with wonder as the characters came out.
All the children were asked to come dressed as their favorite disney character and of course they all came as princesses. There was one boy in attendance… bless his heart. He was not too happy with the princess portion of the party, but she did a great job including him, even made him a sword.
I had soo much fun putting together the prizes table! Amanda from Amanda's Parties To Go helped with the printables (the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse inspired set found here). I found most of my prizes at Walmart in the Valentines day clearance and used her printables to make them fit the theme of Mickey and Friends. I also purchased bubbles and frisbees from the Dollar Tree and embellished with printables as well. It all came together so nicely and made a big impact. Prizes included candy bars, little Disney figurines, frisbees, disk shooters, yo yo’s, sand molds, bubbles and gum balls.
Everything on the dessert table was made by myself. It was filled with chocolate and vanilla cupcakes, cake pops & a 7 tier topsy turvy Mickey and Friends cake. WHEW! This one nearly killed me! I love love love how colorful and crazy it is.

Transportation Party!

I've been busy as a bee these days creating some new designs for my shop, and today I'm so happy to reveal the photos from the new TRANSPORTATION PARTY SET.

Brittany from Grey Grey Designs contacted me to collaborate on a PLANES, TRAINS and AUTOMOBILES party for a sweet 2 year old boy who loves trains. Drawing inspiration from the "Ready, Set, Go!" fabric from Robert Kaufman, I got to work creating a printables set perfect for all those little boys who love things that GO!

I was thrilled to see the photos from the party and hear more from Brittany on her creative details.

Starting at the front door, Brittany gave the guests a sneak peek of the fun inside with an adorable door sign made with the TRANSPORTATION PRINTABLES and some orange craft foam.

For the party table, Brittany explains, "I wanted the backdrop to be a literal sky. So, using a blue sky fabric from Hobby Lobby, I added some clouds made from cardboard and pillow batting--a super easy project for very little money.
And, I strung the banner from the back of the airplane to suggest the airplanes that fly messages through the sky."

My favorite creative idea of Brittany's the ADORABLE cupcake stand she made from hatboxes and small cardboard/chipboard pieces. She used spray paint for some of the pieces and the coordinating papers from the printables collection to add pops of color and pattern.

And can you even believe how CUTE those fondant cupcake toppers are? Brittany from Edible Details is the genius behind these amazing little creations!
Did you notice how they perfectly match the party printable designs? Genius! Brittany is my first email when I'm collaborating on a party project. If she's on board, you KNOW it's going to be a great party!

Brett's mom, Jennifer, and Brittany worked together to come up with fun names for all the foods.... "Car Tires" for chocolate covered donuts, bagels were "Steering Wheels," "Stoplight Skewer" fruit kabobs, "Antifreeze" for a green drink, and "Cloud Dip" which was marshmallow fluff and graham crackers.

Brittany says, "to bring in the trains, we did 'Lumps of Coal,' which were simply rice krispie treats with black food coloring. They were a fun touch, especially for kids! We joked that you would certainly be able to tell who had one, just by the color of their mouth!

I love how Brittany used the road signs from the printables collection throughout the party space to carry the theme. She simply hot glued the signs to dowels painted black and then inserted them into foam covered in grass-print scrapbook paper. She also used artificial grass from Hobby Lobby for a fun embellishment.

For favors, Jennifer liked the idea of train whistles and conductor hats, and those are always an easy find on Oriental Trading's website. I tied them with a favor card from Amanda's Parties To Go and some cute ribbon to match the theme."

FABULOUS JOB, Brittany! Thank you so much for sharing all of your inspirational ideas and fun party photos with us!
